Stephen is a high level professional with over a decade of experience working in the patent law field.
He gained a high level of patent prosecution, analysis, and research expertise as a Patent Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in Class 705 to evaluate cutting edge financial and accounting related inventions. His areas of strength include prior-art, landscape, and state-of-the-art research and assessment, patent application drafting, and new business development. His areas of technical competence include mechanical, chemical, finance, business process, business method, software, games, engineering, computer, semiconductor and telecommunications inventions.
Prior to Bay Area IP he honed skills and demonstrated excellence in patent drafting and as a research department supervisor at Litman Law Offices in Arlington, VA.
His work also included assessing and advising clients on their best course of protective action based on the client’s business strategy and protection needs.
He education background includes an MBA in Finance at Vanderbilt University, and a BA in Chemistry at Virginia Tech with an engineering and business focus.
He has a basic language proficiency in German, which were acquired in formal studies in Germany at the Goethe Institute in Berlin and Frankfurt.
