William is the Director of our Prior-art Research practice. He is in charge of assuring optimal operations and quality control. He also handles our high-value research cases that require top level results.
William is a former Patent Examiner at the US Patent Office (USPTO) with over seven years of experience, where he examined over a thousand national (US) and foreign high-technology patent application and decided their fate based on a keen command of complex patent rules and laws.
His patent research skills have ranked in the top 5 percentile of all Patent Examiners, and prior to joining Bay Area IP, for years he effectively handled the high volume research practice of a top tier D.C. Patent Law Firm. Moreover, as a seasoned Patent Examiner, we benefit from his extensive knowledge in the USPTO's patent research and examination methods used in rejecting patent application, which has proven to be invaluable for our clients in discovering problematic prior art and authoritatively identifying allowability issues and likelihood of patent allowance. We are very proud to have William run our research practice and assure our patent research capabilities are are among the top tier in the industry.
William has had extensive industry experience in computer hardware and software as a Systems Administrator and Computer Hardware/Software Engineer.
He gained significant technical capabilities during his 10+ years of high technology work, which technical knowledge includes design, coding (C/C++ and assembly language), implementation and new testing of real-time software used in data communications, signal processing, data collection and analysis, controls, digital and analog interface, and graphics user interface. As a Project Engineer, he gained significant knowledge in software and hardware design, manufacture, and new testing.
